Overview
QHA #HospitalityFirstStep training is a 14 hour package delivering real learning outcomes for existing, new or potential staff to gain skills in RSA, bar, restaurant and customer service. Essential specialist skills delivered focus on service – bar, restaurant and customer service.
This FUNDED training is sponsored by Diageo Australia, under their local hero brand Bundaberg Rum and their Raising the Bar initiative.
Qualifications:
The course comprises two days (14 hours) of face to face training and participants receive a Statement of Attainment for an accredited competency (RSA) and a Certificate of Attendance (assessment of learning outcomes).
Accredited Training:
One accredited unit of competency incorporated in this course is:
- SITHFAB002Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
Schedule:
Day 1:
- SITHFAB002Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
- Sell or service alcohol responsibly
- Assist customers to drink within appropriate limits.
- Assess alcohol affected customers and identify those to whom sale or service must be refused.
- Refuse to provide alcohol.
- Customer service
- Communication and phone skills
- The customer including diverse cultures and those affected by a disability.
- Conflicts and customer complaints.
Day 2:
- Basic Bar service
- The operation of a bar including service of various beverages e.g. beer, wine, spirits, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks.
- Cash handling, operation of a float and the till.
- Food service
- Staff presentation and menu knowledge.
- Table setting, napkin folding, orders including docket writing.
- Meal service, plate carrying and table clearing.
Learning Outcomes
The course will achieve hospitality learning outcomes that will enable a student or young job seeker to gain entry level employment.
